A vacancy has arisen at Hilton College for the post of a half-day Estate Administrator as of the 1st of June 2023.

The College’s recruitment policy will be followed including the necessity to be attentive to the requirements of employment equity.

Whilst more details will be made available to suitable candidates selected for an interview, the following sets out the essential criteria for the position which will be used to identify possible candidates:

Responsibilities

  • This position is best suited for a mature person.
  • Must have some bookkeeping experience, computer skills, Excel (MUST have a good working knowledge of Excel using formulas, spreadsheets, etc.), Outlook/E-Mail, and Word. Must be able to work within control systems.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and accuracy in all tasks are considered vital to the success of the operation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with all races and levels.
  • The ability to work both independently, as well as to be part of a team, in meeting overall objectives
  • Applicant to have some knowledge of running an estate, fire regulations, forestry, farming/nature reserve background would be a definite advantage, although not necessary. ➢ Must be fluent in Zulu (read, write, speak).
  • A driver’s license is a distinctive advantage.

The essential elements of the position include:

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly updating and maintaining of estate and vehicle records.
  • Typing of general correspondence and knowledge of mail merge functions within Word.
  • Co-ordinating bookings for the nature reserve and day permits.
  • Liaising with Firehawk when burning and obtaining necessary permits.
  • Staffing procedures, including recording performance appraisals, reconciling salaries, and processing casual wages.
  • Assistance with annual budgets.
  • Management of vehicle maintenance for Campus and Estate fleet.

General:

  • Normal working hours are from 07H30 a.m. to 12H00 daily from Monday to Friday.
  • Annual vacation leave is per normal commercial terms and must be taken in the year.
  • Remuneration is subject to agreement between the parties but is considered by the College to be fair and competitive in the marketplace.
