New Hanover Preparatory School is an English-medium, co-educational School, offering education in a country setting from Grade RRR to Grade 7. New Hanover Prep is steeped in a rich heritage of over 160 years of Christian-based education. New Hanover Prep requires a private Speech and Language therapist, who can provide therapy to the learners in our school. The Therapist would form part of our Learner Support team and work in a private capacity with regards to regulations and fee collection.
New Hanover Preparatory School is currently seeking a dynamic, energetic, creative and dedicated Academic Support teacher to join their team. As an academic support teacher, you will play a vital role in providing personalised educational assistance to students, helping them achieve their academic goals. This position requires effective communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for empowering students to reach their full academic potential.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a dynamic team of educators to deliver quality academic support to students.
- Maintain regular communication with both staff and parents, providing progress updates and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Provide a progress report each semester to parents and staff.
- Attend team meetings, fostering a collaborative environment to discuss student progress, share insights, and develop strategies for improvement.
- Provide academic/remedial support to students at the junior and senior primary levels, tailoring teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Work with students on an individual, group or class basis.
- Utilise a variety of teaching techniques, resources, and technologies to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
- Create a positive classroom environment that promotes student confidence, motivation, and academic growth.
- Evaluate student performance through assessments, observations, and feedback, and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Keep records of student progress and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Stay up-to-date with current educational practices and research, continuously seeking professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
- Qualified, experienced teacher with a Remedial/Academic Support qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
- Registered member of SACE.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with staff and parents.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passionate about education and dedicated to helping students succeed.
- This position is not remunerated by New Hanover Preparatory School, the applicant will bill parents directly but will be provided with a venue at New Hanover Preperatory school
