Duties & Responsibilities
My client in Cape Town is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to manage inbound and outbound logistics for their site in Somerset West. This is a fast-paced environment that requires someone who likes to get their hands dirty and has an extensive background in planning & initiating change to improve production, distribution and site performance.
Duties:
- Ensure the physical environment is safe for employees and contractors
- Oversee training and development
- Ensure all employees are aware of the company’s sustainability policy and goals
- Define policy and management of all materials for the manufacturing process
- Define quality requirements and manage the adherence to those standards by suppliers through audits and delivery inspections
- Ensure raw material orders are properly planned monthly and weekly
- Determine material grades in conjunction with Sales Manager
- Determine optimal deckles and range
- Stock Management
- Truck efficiency
- Manage, build, develop and maintain an effective team
- Set up a performance review system in keeping with the Group Performance
Requirements:
- Relevant Supply Chain or Logistics qualification
- At least 5 years’ experience at a manager level
- Experience within FMCG, Manufacturing, Logistics/Distribution or Pooling/Pallet/Packaging
- Strong background in initiating change to improve production / sites performance
- Responsible and accountable for all stocktakes (planning and executing)
- Ensure accurate reporting on stock/stock losses/stock outs and availability
- Previous experience with an ERP system
- Experience in goods handling equipment
- Experience with handling high volumes
- Numerically strong
- Process driven execution
- Able to do analysis of data
