Description
Our client who is passionate about proving accessible learning solutions is looking for a dynamic Page layout Designed to join their team
Duties & Responsibilities
- Graphic design and page layout:
- Import text and graphics via publishing software.
- Integrate images and text to create cohesive pages.
- Optimise text properties.
- Edit graphics, photographs and vector illustrations.
- Revise layouts and do corrections as necessary.
- Quality control on all products (digital and print).
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including the Supply Chain and Academics divisions, as well as editors, illustrators and printers
Desired Experience & Qualification
Tertiary qualification in graphic design and page layout (essential).
• Additional tertiary qualification in graphic design and page layout (advantageous).
• Minimum five years relevant experience in conceptualisation, graphic design, page layout, time management, publishing industry best practices.
• Computer skills (essential):
▫ Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
▫ MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Computer skills (advantageous):
▫ Drawing tablet (Wacom or other)
▫ Digital rights management (DRM) and EPUBs
• Language proficiency:
▫ English (fluent)
▫ Afrikaans: functional (first additional language level)
• Other requirements:
▫ Integrity and strong work ethic
▫ Team player who is self-motivated and can take initiative
▫ Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines (flexibility to work longer hours or over weekends when necessary)
▫ Creative, but able to follow prescribed guidelines
▫ Keen eye for detail
▫ Research and problem-solving skills
▫ Skilled in clear and timeous communication
