This is an excellent opportunity for a SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER to join an exceptional team of Senior Java and Scala Developers, designing and developing Solutions which are powering the most successful E-COMMERCE / ONLINE RETAILER.
Based in CAPE TOWN this SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER role offers a salary of R800K – R1 Million / annum.
To succeed in this role, you must be a passionate and detailed-focused SENIOR DEVELOPER with a keen interest in the latest object-oriented and functional programming languages.
The role will allow you to gain expertise in both machine learning to web apps, related to ONLINE RETAIL. A strong understanding of JVM features and Java libraries is required.
This company is a BIG DATA environment, so ideally you’ll be open to learning SCALA (if you don’t have this skillset already).

THE ROLE:
As SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER you will work closely with the Engineering Team Lead on a range of critical Online Retail, Machine Learning and Web Apps.
You will work with business and stakeholders to drive efficiency and a constant striving for better products and solutions – the bulk of your work will be new design and new development.
This will involve working on open source platforms, and end to end ownership of solutions.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
You must be a SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER who is willing and open to learning the latest object-oriented and functional programming languages.
Experience in writing robust, efficient production code.
Experience with SQL database systems.
Experience with development in a Linux environment.
At least 5 years JAVA experience.
(Scala will be a plus, as will experience with Play Framework, Akka Actors, React, Postgres, Mqtt & Kafka, AWS, Graphite and Grafana – BUT don’t worry if you haven’t used these…you will be taught).
