My client in the mining industry is looking for a Security Information and Support Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the Group Manager: Security, this role will manage the Information and Support function by providing accurate, relevant and timeous intelligence to support the overall Security and Company objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Implement a target-centric approach and philosophy to intelligence in line with industry and ethical standards, practices and principles focusing on corporate issues listed below.
  • Design and Implement appropriate systems to facilitate intelligence capability.
  • Utilise external capabilities to augment the intelligence strategy and objectives.
  • Develop and execute an Intelligence plan and budget and support BU's Intelligence related plan and budget in order to demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in achieving business performance objectives.
  • Identify and address potential cyber-crime threats/breaches to information security and support efforts in collaboration with ICT and external providers to safeguard these processes. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and management by providing relevant information and context. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VP) - Support efforts to adopt/ascribe to VP. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Identify, assess and address the link/relationship between diamond theft at the operations and organised crime in collaboration with relevant state authorities and external resources. Identify and report control/standard failures/inefficiencies and risk in diamond export and operations' production processes for action and feedback.
  • Vetting and profiling employees and contractors as part of collection and analysis process to prevent theft, fraud and corruption. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Identify and assist in efforts to address community grievances and potential threats to improving collaboration and relationships. Assess social, political, environmental and economic environment as well as human rights issues and advise on potential impacts to the company and operations. Support efforts to seek opportunities for improving sustainable relationships with communities and other relevant stakeholders. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Profile and vetting contractors/suppliers to ensure compliance to ethical standards and practices and to prevent theft, fraud and corruption. Collaborate with industry and assist to implement sound policies, practices, controls and systems to ensure responsible sourcing. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Feed into and collaborate with security on reporting threats to company assets and also feed into investigations, primarily focusing on commercial related and serious crime. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Provide expert discipline related advice on Industry Best Practice and keep abreast of latest developments in area of expertise.
  • Ensure capacity and strength of functional talent pool by coordinating, directing and leading Intelligence talent.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders on Intelligence related matters, and support operations on Intelligence related engagement, working within Corporate stakeholder engagement and communication standards, guidelines and strategies. Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system within the

Intelligence/Information Function.

  • Support ethics policy and initiatives by participating in awareness initiatives and action. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Ensure that all Intelligence reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
  • Identify and address the risk of Illegal mining at operations in collaboration with Group functions, operations and relevant authorities. Support efforts to implement ASM. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Identify and address aspects/risks potentially impacting the company's reputation i.e.: marketing activities, shareholder activism, social and environmental impacts, Kimberley Certification Process (KP) compliance, and negative social media reports impacting reputation. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Support and report on risk to employee relations and trade union related matters. Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.
  • Identify and report control and standard deviations, failures and inefficiencies for action and feedback.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Security Risk Management, Business Management OR BTech Degree equivalent OR related field.
  • More than 5 years management experience within a security or related environment.
  • Management Development Programme (MDP) OR equivalent.
  • PSIRA Grade A.
  • Working knowledge of Security Risk Management principles and practices – please indicate clearly on CV
  • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate).
  • Valid driver's license

 

Advantage:

  • Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP) OR equivalent.

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Design, implement and monitor a wide range of intelligence specific pro-active and re-active strategic plans.
  • Properly align intelligence strategy and plans to relevant business plans of the company.            
  • Know and understand the relevant business objectives of the company.
  • Apply intelligence techniques in order to identify strategic and operational threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Inform decision-making on business plans based on intelligence.
  • Demonstrate good industry related knowledge of intelligence and risk management principles and practices.
