High School Sports Department

Physical Education Teacher

Applications from suitably qualified individuals are invited for this exciting and demanding full-time role in the High School which is from grade 7 – grade 12, to commence in term 1 of 2024. You will need to display commitment and support for the “fit for life” physical education model and competitive sport within the Brescia House School sports philosophy.

Minimum requirements for this role include:

  • Relevant teaching qualification from a recognized institution with proof of registration with SACE.
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching and learning experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in a management role, with the leading of a sports portfolio and/or dealing with teachers and coaches.
  • A relevant coaching qualification and experience, umpiring/refereeing qualifications, and an excellent all-round knowledge of developmental and competitive sport.
  • Proven record of innovation, commitment, and professionalism within physical education and sports related education.
  • The willingness to embrace the rapid change in education, teaching & learning, and sports coaching within education.
  • A high level of computer literacy and technological skills.
  • Effective organizational, administrative skills to assist in the running of the department and support to the Head of Sport.
  • The ability to manage pressure, deadlines, and the expectations of all stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Work closely with the Head of Sport in the effective functioning of the department.
  • Contribute as an active and innovative member of the teaching and academic staff.
  • Teach physical education in the GET and FET phases of the school.
  • Assist in the management of the school physical education curriculum actively engage in the curriculum offering.
  • Display experience and an interest in school sport.
  • Assist in the selection, training, and monitoring of coaches.
  • Coach and umpire as appropriate and needed.
