Description
Purpose
To develop, design and review all systems and initiatives as per Implats HSE strategy and business plan commitments, monitor, implementation and compliance throughout all Implats operations. Co-ordinate and facilitate reviewed strategies and implementation thereof
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the development, design and review of all strategic requirements, systems and initiatives as per Implats HSE business plan which will include a yearly planner for review and improvements across all Implats operations.
To develop the Health and Safety review/improvement tool to measure operational performance.
• Responsible to advise Operational Heads with regards to inter-group standards, benchmarking of best practice and industry standards.
To establish a review/improve framework that supports the business plan.
To schedule review/improvement sessions at all Implats Operations (roadshows, interaction with all business areas, sensitization of the review and overall objectives)
Responsible for pre-engagement with Implats Head of departments.
To lead teams at Implats operations to ensure quality and consistency on monitoring, measuring and reporting.
To review the commitments made on the strategy and HSE business plan: - Group policies - Tier 1 documents Implats Safety and Sustainability Standards - Review Tier 2 operational safety plans for BP support - Review of Personal safety plans and individual development - Compliance to Mandatory Codes of Practices (MCOP) and MOSH initiatives – Tier 2 - Fatal Risk Control Protocols - Tier 2 documents - Facilitate Material Unwanted Event programme - Tier 2 Process - Performance Standards - Audit performance standards
To write reports, make recommendations that support the findings and remedial actions to improve.
Proactive engagement which will include coaching, ensure that substandard issues are addressed immediately and recommend further improvements
Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12 with Maths and Science is essential
3 year degree / Diploma in Safety/Risk/Auditing (or related mining or processing)
MO Certificate or Engineering Foreman Development certificate (IMDP) AND
Qualification in External Audits – ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001
10 years’ experience in a Mining as MO or equivalent as Engineering Superintendent
7 years’ experience in audit/safety and risk
Experience in implementation of systems at all levels of operations 5 years’ experience in operational audits and reviews
Experience in the implementation of FRCPs and the management of material unwanted events is advantageous
Valid medical Certificate or be medically fit to obtain such certificate is essential
Competencies
Must have Knowledge of MHS Act and OHSA and implementation of systems i.e. SAP, ISO and CURA
Must have Knowledge of audits and reviews and of FRCP and Materials Unwanted Events
Knowledge of Risk Management Systems
Report writing skill (operational and executive)
Good Presentation skills
Communication skills (senior management engagement)
Lead teams to perform efficiently
