Founded in 1896 and set in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Michaelhouse is a leading
Anglican Independent senior Boarding School for boys from Grade 8 to Grade 12
Michaelhouse is looking to employ a qualified Registered School Nurse to join our team of Healthcare professionals providing health care and support to the boys and staff of Michaelhouse commencing in July/ August 2023.
The Michaelhouse Health Centre provides a clinically effective, high-quality service of nursing care to boarders and first aid care to all members of the school community. The Health Centre is staffed on a 24/7 rota by our full-time nursing staff. The School requires of all its employees a high standard of behaviour and integrity when undertaking duties and when in contact with pupils, parents, fellow employees, and visitors alike.
We are looking for a dedicated, caring professional who is passionate and understanding about the care and development of young people. The successful candidate should also be willing to become involved and supportive in the broader Michealhouse community while maintaining the Christian values and ethos of the school
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Registration with the SA Nurses Council.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have further qualifications: Occupational Health, Community
Nursing or Primary Health Care. - Additionally, a dispensing license will be advantageous.
- Enthusiasm, commitment, and passion for primary health care.
- Empathy with, and understanding of, young people.
- Proficient IT skills as well as meticulous record keeping and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Counselling skills.
- The ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, while maintaining a professional and flexible approach
IMPORTANT CONDITIONS:
- A small flat is provided for the employee’s use when on duty.
- The night shift working hours are 19h00 – 07h00.
- Due to the nature of the role, it may be a requirement to work during school holidays for school events,
festivals based on operational requirements. - This position would be best suited to someone already resident within reasonable travelling distance of
Michaelhouse.
