Girls in Makhanda (Grahamstown) invite applications for:

A FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME INSTRUMENTAL AND SUBJECT MUSIC TEACHER
SPECIALISING IN BRASS INSTRUMENTS

A vacancy exists for an accomplished musician and teacher with passion, creativity and vision, to be a member of a large and vibrant music department.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

Responsibilities

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • have at least five years’ experience teaching brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba) students in Junior and Senior schools, with a proven record of success in Trinity, ABRSM, Unisa or Rock school examinations up to at least Grade 8 level.
  • be SACE registered and hold at least a BMus degree in music, preferably having specialised in brass instruments.
  • have at least five years’ experience teaching IEB subject music from Grades 8 – 12.
  • have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • be passionate about maintaining and developing a diverse instrumental education culture.
  • have experience coaching and conducting ensembles and orchestras.
  • be willing to be actively involved in school music performances, productions and events.
  • be fully computer literate with the ability to incorporate technology in lessons and to arrange music using one of the music notation software programmes.
  • have an understanding of and a willingness to commit to growing the unique teaching partnership between The Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College.
  • demonstrate willingness to support the Christian ethos of the school.
  • share the values and vision of The Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College around transformation, diversity and belonging.
