Description
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector (MMS) in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998. The MQA would like to invite qualifying individuals to apply for an internship opportunity within its Legal and Governance Unit.
Duties & Responsibilities
The internship programme will cover but may not be limited to the following:
- Monitor the implementation of contracts and ensure conformity to contract requirements;
- Liaise with stakeholders and service providers regarding signing, monitoring and termination of contracts;
- Track and manage contracts and advise relevant users of the termination and expiry periods;
- Ensure correct filing of all legal documents;
- Monitor legal, compliance and corporate governance risks workshops, conferences and promotions as required by the Legal and Governance Manager;
- Liaise with department and units and provide the required legal, corporate governance and compliance support;
- Attend to and prepare necessary documents for information sessions pertaining to legal, governance and compliance matters;
- Assist with the rollout of the Compliance Policy to all MQA staff members;
- Proactively identify customer needs and opportunities;
- Ensure sound communication with, and participation by, service providers and stakeholders through regular contact in appropriate service delivery processes;
- Collaborate with line managers of business units / teams to ensure a consistent query resolution approach; and
Ensure alignment of all work processes to the required quality standards

Competency
The candidate must possess the following:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- An understanding of legislation and developments pertaining to education and training;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- A proactive attitude;
- Ability to pay attention to detail; and
- Proficiency in MS Office packages.
Minimum requirements
- A law degree (i.e. LLB) or degree with law as a major (e.g. BA Law or BCom Law);
- A grade 12 or matric certificate;
- 2 years’ Experience as an Administrator and
- Be a South African citizen
