Description
Our financial services client is looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to join their team in Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice, analysis and/or opinions on all legal matters.
- Anticipate any legal issues that may arise from the changing regulatory landscape.
- Update existing Legal policies on an annual basis and provide to for approval and sign off.
- Review legal documents.
- Conduct Legal training on legal topics and policies to all new and existing employees.
- Carry out compliance responsibilities in terms of legislation, regulation, and Group Compliance.
- Contribute to establishing, implementing and maintaining a risk-based compliance plan on an annual basis.
- Conduct regular Compliance Monitoring Exercises.
- Update existing Compliance policies on an annual basis and for approval and sign off.
- Promote and sustain an ethical compliance culture that values responsible conduct and compliance with internal and external obligations.
- Conduct Compliance training on compliance topics and policies to both new and existing employees.
- Promote company’s Compliance with the FSC requirements.
- Host information sessions to key stakeholders on the importance of the FSC.
- Prepare a dashboard (as -if calculation) detailing the quarterly progress on the target achievement by each stakeholder.
- Draft and implement a verification project plan for the annual verification process.
Requirements:
- Admitted Attorney.
- Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB).
- Post graduate Diploma in Compliance Management would be an advantage.
- At least 3 years’ post-admission experience in the financial services industry.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, with an ability to address both expert and non-expert audiences.
Salary: R600 000 – R700 000 p/a
