Description
- To be responsible for all duties as required of a Laboratory Assistant, including but not limited to: setting up equipment, chemicals and supplies for chemistry, physics and biology laboratories;
- Maintain and oversee inventory of equipment and chemical supplies including ordering and handling the required chemicals and gasses under the direction of the teachers;
- Properly sterilize equipment and glassware using the appropriate solvents;
- Knowledgable about proper disposal of chemical waste and bio wast
- Research and test the efficiency of new and exciting alternative experiments;
- Managing storage system of chemicals and glassware
- Prepare buffer solutions of a given pH and calibrate the pH meter, prepare chemical indicators and biological stain solutions using appropriate quantities of reagents;
- Assist teachers in supervising activities, setting and invigilating practical exam papers, moderating and marking the practical exam papers;
- Managing of Fish Tanks
- Managing a collection of animals and reptiles.

- Computer literacy skills is imperative.
- Minimum requirement is a recognised Science Degree and/or a 4-year professional Qualification Science related fields.
- Must have experience working in a laboratory in the same or similar type of position in a similar environment with specific knowledge of Science, Biology, laboratory equipment, chemical preparation and disposal procedures.
