Description

Redhill School is seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher with expertise in choir training to join our Junior and Middle School Music Programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engaging and comprehensive music education to our students while also leading and developing our Junior and Middle School Choir. The position requires strong musical skills, effective teaching techniques and a deep understanding of choral pedagogy.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Choral Training and Direction: Develop and lead the Junior School Choir, providing training and guidance in vocal techniques, harmony, choral performance and musical expression.
  •  Rehearsals and Performances: Organise and conduct regular choir rehearsals, preparing students for performances at school events, concerts, competitions and community engagements.
  •  Musical Productions and Events: Assist in organising and coordinating school musical productions, talent shows and other music-related events, showcasing the students’ musical abilities.
  •  Professional Development: Stay updated with current trends, resources and teaching methodologies in music education. Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • SACE registration.
  • Have evidence of clearance with the Child Protection Act, Sexual Offences Act and Police Clearance.
  • Preferably a minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
  • Experience in or willingness to engage with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in choral training and directing school choirs.
  • Strong musical proficiency and knowledge across various musical genres and styles.
  • Familiarity with Junior School curriculum standards and teaching methodologies.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for music education and a genuine passion for nurturing young musicians.
  • Willingness to teach in teams with Creative Arts.
  • Ability to integrate technology and innovative teaching methods into music instruction.
