Description
An opportunity has become available within Supreme Agri for a senior team member. An individual with strong leadership skills combined with a deep, practical knowledge and understanding of Broiler breeders. The ideal candidate will need to meet certain criteria not limited to the following:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Leading sizeable breeder operation with a staff compliment of 250+ team members.
- Exceptional people / team leadership skills
- Work efficiently in a team environment with tact, patience, and a willingness to work with colleagues, ability to build relationships and be able to work under pressure
- Ability to work closely with other key departments such as Veterinarian, Health and Safety, HR etc.
- High level demonstratable performance
- Strong analytical skills relating to breeder technical aspects
- High technical performance of breeder flocks
- Managing and compliance of a strict bio-security environment
- Training and development knowledge transfer
- Provide timeous feedback to Management regarding challenges, concerns and general performance, to assure a proactive approach
- Excellent planning skills, must have a passion to succeed
- Manage the performance of the team to ensure all KPI’s are achieved daily
- Financial well-being of the operation from a budget point of view, prepare annual budgets and monthly feedback thereof
- Sets and tracks performance to targets, budgets and operating plans
- Report and present analysis to management
- Ensures the team administers discipline in line with Company’s disciplinary policy.
Skills and Desired Experience
- A good understanding of modern farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare and an interest in, and understanding of, the ways in which farming impacts the environment
- Ability to work outside in all weathers and patience to undertake all sorts of practical, sometimes repetitive jobs
- Experience leading projects with minimal assistance, within framework and to budget.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word) - IT skills are essential alongside the capability to analyse operational reports, monitoring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage direct reports
- Drivers’ license
- Grade 12
- A degree in Agriculture is greatly valued and beneficial
- A minimum of 10 years experience in Senior management within the broiler breeder sphere.
- Experience in implementing OHSA and environmental regulations
