Description
Key Responsibilities
- Quality assure applications to ensure compliance with legislation, as and when required
- Quality assure profiles loaded onto database, as and when required
- Prepare registration confirmation letter to advise contracts to have been successfully registered
- Issue letter on right of appearance (certificate issued to authorize appearance in district court and / or regional court) to legal practitioner and candidate legal practitioner
- Administer cession of PVT in accordance with legislation
- Handle enquiries on applications to address post registration non-compliance issues
- Participate in professional affairs committee and prepare draft report for submission to Head of Department
- Monitor smooth running of the examination process in the province in accordance with legislation
- Handle regulatory issues pertaining to examinations i.e. eligibility of candidate
- Review reports submitted on examinations carried out
- Liaise with applicants and foreign jurisdictions on admission requirements
- Verify that applications are complete for filing at courtÂ
- Liaise with the court on outstanding orders
- Approve of right of appearance in High Court to ensure compliance with legislation
- Liaise with legal practitioners (principals) regarding non-compliance relating to practical vocational training contracts
- Update records on practical vocational training contracts
- Prepare reports upon request of Courts
- Receive requests for struck off attorneys to work at a firm and submit to Disciplinary Department
- Monitor all administration of records to ensure compliance with the legislative framework
- Coordinate the process of applications for Fidelity Fund certifications and Staff supervision

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric/Grade 12 Certificate
- Law Degree
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner
- 2 years post admission experience in a legal environment or in a professional regulatory environment
- Knowledge of Legal Practice Act, No 28 of 2014
- Section 109 Regulations
- Code of Conduct for all Legal Practitioners & Court Rules
