Description
This highly profitable KZN Industrial Services Group, is looking to appoint an Experienced Operations Manager to run their High-Tech Rapid Response Control Room and CCTV Operations (Hazardous Waste/Spill Response).
This key role is offered on the basis of an initial MONTH-TO-MONTH CONTRACT PERIOD, with the possibility of it being made permanent – dependent on performance.
Immediate availability would therefore be advantageous.
Please note that this position is open to South African Citizens only
Duties & Responsibilities
The Operations & Control Room Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing the deliverables of the Control Room service (24/7) and ensuring all operational KPI’s are met
- Troubleshooting and organizing for corrective action, while at the same time mitigating against any further risk to the company
- Carrying out security and safety risk assessments
- Ensuring the efficient and correct monitoring of system use by all operatives
- Communicating effectively with the Control Room team and liaising effectively with operational management
- Maintaining effective relationships with staff, management, contractor and service providers
- Cross functional working with facilities, and services teams
- Managing the training and development / recruitment of Control Room staff
- Conducting and monitoring staff appraisals and disciplinary hearings
- Providing reports and recommending process improvements
- Developing the Control Room manual, that supports all company operations, updating when required and formulating and implementing security policy and procedures
- Acting as a focal point for operations during routine and emergency situations
- Adhering to compliance standards and relevant legislation

- The ability to communicate at all levels, from executive management to operational staff
- Target and KPI focused
- Excellent people and performance management skills
- Experience of working with the latest Control Room systems and a shift workforce
- Analytical and quality focused – able to produce accurate and detailed management information
- Excellent presentation and IT skills are required
- Experience of managing a large, modern Control Room 24/7
- Proven problem solving skills and a track record of improving the day to day running of critically important departments
- Passion, innovation and service excellence.
- Experience of implementing quality and effective policies and standards
