Description
Supply Chain Supervisor required by manufacturing client - will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the overall supply chain strategy in order to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Communication
- Negotiate shipping prices and transportation arrangements with contracted providers
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with suppliers, vendors, and shipping contacts throughout the procurement lifecycle
- Proactive engagement with suppliers in identifying potential issues, resolutions and opportunities
- Develop communication solutions that create value, decrease problems and pre-emptively solve consistent issues
Distribution (including fitment services)
- Negotiate contracts and rates with courier services and transports, fitment contractors and warehouse managers and related third-party service providers.
- Ensure compliance procedures are followed by employees and contracted service providers.
- Execute industry standard policies related to quality, safety, and process improvements.
- Ensure that designated freight contractors follow established processes and procedures for documentation and return policies
Planning and Analysis
- Monitor and analyse manufacturing operations in order to forecast customer demand and raw material orders and meet customer needs
- Optimize operational resources while executing cost reductions and inventory controls
- Conduct monthly sales and FG stock performance analyses to ensure that forecasts and schedules are aligned and integrated
- Execute demand flow verification processes, engage in short- and long-term planning and conduct inventory analyses for warehouse utilization and manufacturing coordination
- Develop the systems for capturing stock and BOM’s in Pastel
Inventory Control
- Develop concise inventory metrics and reporting functions
- Develop Kanban systems where possible to control inventory
- Conduct risk assessments on FIFO, supply trends, demand factors and at-risk product mitigation
- Reduce product obsolescence through inventory reviews and re-balancing efforts
- Maintain a total cost perspective with a lean manufacturing mindset
- Identify obsolescence drivers
- Effectively communicate solutions to third-party logistics providers
- Generate daily, weekly and monthly reports to provide stakeholders with actionable data and insights regarding current stock levels by category and location.
- Control product returns to ensure stock is preserved and in saleable condition
Management
- Promote the design, development, and implementation of warehouse, distribution and logistics solutions
- Manage labour costs, personnel productivity, inventory levels, data accuracy and stock holding strategies
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of departmental activities and operations
- Create and maintain safety work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Establish and adjust work procedures to meet warehouse demands, production schedules, established workflows and OSHA safety guidelines
- Implement strategies to improve service quality, employee efficiency, equipment performance and interdepartmental communication
- Improve warehouse operations using lean principles and share warehouse data to improve productivity, quality and customer service standards
Desired Experience & Qualification
Relevant Diploma, Degree or Qualification in Commerce, Operations or Supply Chain Management.
3-to-5-years’ experience in Supply Chain Management
Pastel Accounting
Other ERP system experience i.e. Syspro
Distribution, Planning and Analysis, and Inventory Control
Management and Leadership skills
