Corporate Careers is a South African Executive Search and Recruiting firm, based in Johannesburg, which focuses on finding operational staff, middle management and executives.
We are recruiting for a Sustainability Manager for a global corporate based in Sandton.
3-5 years in sustainability management / reporting is required as well as 3 years people management experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
What the role is accountable for:
Providing strategic direction and execution of the business sustainability strategy
Role reporting:
Group HR Director
Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy for the business
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the sustainability management programme, including training and awareness, identify opportunities and threats and formulate plans to enhance the participation of management in achieving the sustainability targets
• Manage and co-ordinate integrated sustainability goals
• Control the allocation of work to ensure the achievement of results
• Evaluate Safety Legal Compliance and provide guidance to the operations
• Maintain and develop the Environmental Management System (action plans, non-conformances, aspect and impact management)
• Effectively manage sustainability risk issues, provide execution support to the operations team and maintain effective processes and systems for reporting of sustainability data
• Ensure adequate knowledge of sustainability standards and statutory applicable regulations, by giving effective advice and recommendations to site and operation managers
• Revise sustainability standards and required documentation on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance to current legislations
• Compile reports and statistics to meet statutory requirements
• Liaise with outside stakeholders with regards to permissions, exemptions and legal liability
• Manage the budgeting process and implement cost controls
• Conduct required audits and inspections and co-ordinate external audits to enhance best practice
• Investigate all serious/critical incidents and associated follow-up action strategies and implement medium and long term plans to prevent similar occurrences
• Manages direct reports key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance
Desired Experience & Qualification
Essential Qualifications:
- 4 year Risk Management qualification or similar
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post grad in business or related
- 3-5 years in sustainability management / reporting
- Leading teams: 3 years people management experience
- Project experience: 5 years project management experience
