Description
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Manage the centralised procurement department and lead the procurement team to provide an effective and efficient procurement service to M&RC’s departments and projects (SA and out of country when required)
· Provide input in terms of the strategic direction of the procurement department in line with the business plan
· Effective management of transactional procurement, strategic sourcing, contract management and supplier relationship management to meet project deliverables as per project scope.
· Develop and implement systems, processes, policies and procedures to increase efficiencies in line with best practice, quality standards and legal regulations
· Provide purchasing services including preparation of enquiries, adjudication of tenders, placing of orders, negotiating and compiling of contracts, annual contracts and settling of contract disputes
· Oversee the development of contracts and collaborate with the commercial department in the development of same
· Maintain and build effective cross-functional relationships to ensure smooth integration of workflows and an on time procurement service to projects
· Lead, administer, monitor and control preferential procurement spend and enterprise development to meet BBBEE targets
· Effective self and team management and alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives
Desired Experience & Qualification
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
· Purchasing and Materials Management / Commercial / Business Administration Degree at NQF Level 7
· MS Office Proficient
· Exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills
· Strategic thinking, enablement and leadership skills
· Performance and service driven
· Excellent planning and organizing skills
· Strong work ethic, excellent commercial and negotiation skills
· Proficient in English (written and verbal)
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
· Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years at management level leading and managing a procurement team, preferably in a mining / engineering environment.
· Working knowledge of budgeting and financial controls
· Proven experience developing and implementing procurement systems, processes, policies and procedures to increase efficiencies
· Comprehensive knowledge of procurement best practice, quality standards and legislation related to the role
· Working experience on an ERP system, preferably JD Edwards
· Working knowledge of the NEC and FIDIC suites of contracts
