We’re seeking a young and ambitious Financial Accountant at a well established Medium-Large sized Wholesale and Distribution company based in Germiston. This role is a great opportunity for someone that has completed their SAICA or SAIPA articles and is looking for post articles experience.

This position is driven by various projects  across all departments  and  disciplines  of  the  finance function and  requires  a  dynamic,  assertive  candidate  who can work  independently  to solve problems. The candidate will report to the Assistant Financial Manager and will need to have a keen interest in detail and ensure that the reporting is done meticulously while creating room for growth by seeking out more opportunities to add value.

• To review financial transactions on the accounting system before final posting to ensure that  all  transactions  are  processed accurately (e.g., Correct treatment  of  VAT,  correct account allocation etc.).
• To  provide  support to  the  finance  team  by repairing ad hoc financial reports from  the accounting and finance system as per the instructions received.
• To  apply  the  basic  accounting  principles,  knowledge,  and  techniques  to  analyse variances, assist in production of journals, and perform routine accounting activities.
• To  perform  accounting  computations  and  calculations  accurately,  and  try to  identify  if there are discrepancies, and if there are any errors, try to resolve them.

• Completed 3 years of SAICA or SAIPA articles (Required).
• Eligible to register as an AGA (SA) or PA (SA)  (beneficial).
• 0-2 years of post articles experience
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Good attention to detail, must be very accurate, analytical, assertive.
• Excellent Time management and should be able to work on deadline driven situations.
• Superior proficiency in excel is essential.
