An Independent, Christian day school situated in Melrose, Johannesburg, Kingsmead provides an excellent, all rounded education to girls from Grade 000 to Matric.

FACILITIES MANAGER

As a Facilities Manager, you will be expected to manage all aspects of the all hard and soft facilities management services, this will include but not be limited to the following; preventative maintanence, safety and security of our campus, assests and facilities, planning, construction and design, regulatory compliance with health and safety management, as well as managing the service staff, external service providers and co-ordinating facility related projects.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Facilities Manager will report directly to the Executive Head of the School and is involved in the day-to-day running of the school facilities.
  • The Facilities Manager will work in conjunction with the Events and Projects Manager, manage the maintenance of all facilities, improvement projects, repairs and events.
  • Management of all the facility – related projects, including planning, implementation and sign -off.
  • Procurement of assets and consumables needed for the efficient running of the facilities department.
  • Development and management of contractual obligations between the school and any external service providers.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to proactively address any issues.
  • Ensure that all buildings, infrastructure, grounds and gardens are well maintained and are in line with the statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Arrange the servicing of all equipment, machinery, systems and vehicles as required and compile records.
  • Financial planning and budgeting – managing the facilities and project budgets.
  • Management of / and appoint of all Kingsmead facilities by 3rd parties.
  • Manage all, maintenance, repairs and renovations to the estate, equipment and the grounds.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor external contractors on site to ensure satisfactory work and compliance with OHS requirements
  • Act as the contact for the security company and liaise with them regularly to put the strategic plan in place for the campus security.
  • Manange and co-ordinate Drivers and fleet of vehicles, including buses and all safety checks before departing school.
  • Assist with the evaluation and performance management of the service staff.
  • Ensure that all appropriate and relevant information is communicated to all staff.

KEY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A qualification in Property and/or Facilities Management, Engineering or related.
  • At least 5+ years of proven experience in Facilities and Estate Management
  • Strong experience of assessment, reporting and building thorough action plans.
  • Technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in managing a team and fostering a collaborative working environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and external contractors at all levels.
  • An understanding of the BCEA and OHS acts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or equivalent programmes.
  • Previous experience working in a school environment would be advantageous
