Chester was established in 1973 and now consists of five divisions, namely Chester Wholesale Meat, Chester Butcheries, Chandling International and Hummingbird Investments. is now one of the largest meat wholesalers in South Africa. Chester Wholesale Ltd imports a variety of beef, mutton, pork, poultry and vegetables. from South America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, Denamrk, China and Belgium. The company operates its own clearing and forwarding department (and imports on average 120 containers, over 3000 tons per month).

Purpose of the Role:

 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for fulfilling the role of a Clerk within our Receiving Department at Chester Wholesale Meat KZN (Pty) Ltd based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Ensure that a GRV purchase order or RTT is available in order for the stock to be received.
• Ensure that documentation and information captured is accurate with correct codes, product description and checked for any discrepancies.
• Create GRV document on Meat Matrix.
• Ensure a Sales Purchase order and a requisition form for stock ordered by Distribution or manufacturing is attached to Client GIV
• Ensure that all documents relating to inwards and outwards are filed together, and transfer documents forwarded to the invoicing office and weighbridge for truck or container to be dispatched.
• Ensure that when generating orders, the BV (bond and vet) class is removed by import and Quality departments to prevent negative stock.
• Ensure that you are up to date of which trucks are in the bay at all times, which orders have been given to the reach truck drivers and that the clients fax/email confirmation is attached to the checkers copy.
• All orders must be double checked and made according to the clients packing list and the customer must be contacted if there is any information that is unclear.
• Ensure the Truck / Container list/ Performance Report/Summary of Stock Ordered VS Stock Sent Report is completed at the end of every shift and forwarded to all people concerned.
• Monitor temperature checks and hygiene inspection sheets daily and ensure optimal hygiene levels are achieved. Report any problems to the manager and Quality Control.
• Ensure daily GRN summary report is completed and check list for manager approval signature.
• Perform weekly stock counts.

• Three Shift System 06h00 – 14h00, 14h00 – 22h00, 22h00 to 06h00

Minimum Requirements:

 

• Matric.
• Relevant Qualification.
• Experience in meat processing industry (added advantage).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be able to do reconciliations.
