A market leading Logistics and Transport company is looking to hire a CFO to join and lead the strategic finance function. The company has been hit hard by Covid-19 with the industry taking a beating and seeing multiple competitors withdraw from the South African market. Our client has emerged with a strong competitive position in the market and is looking for an ambitious CFO that will take a leading role in re-capitalizing and growing the business.

The role is cut out for a strategic, commercial and experienced CFO. The successful candidate will work across multiple departments and play a pivotal part in determining the overall strategic direction of the company, leading the successful strategic implementation across the group.

• Raising Capital: Work closely with existing and new funding partners to re-capitalise the business.
• Commercial strategic implementation: Work closely with the CEO and Exco to explore and implement new commercial opportunities to unlock revenue growth, alleviate pressure on cash flow, Minimise overall risk and set up important commercial partnership opportunities.
• Mergers & Acquisitions: Identify targets, negotiating and structuring M&A opportunities.
• Operational Management: past experience in working closely with operations teams to ensure that the function is supported by robust strategic financial metrics.
• Transformation of the Finance Function: Previous experience of taking a finance function from a passive backend function to a strategic and proactive function that works across departments.
• Financial Management & Reporting: Managing a large Finance Team to produce accurate, timely financial information that is actionable across multiple departments.

• Work closely with the CEO, COO and Exco to design and implement strategic and commercial initiatives across the group, ensuring that Financial information remains a foundational consideration.
• Work closely with the group Directors in multiple departments in order to provide actionable reporting that enables business decisions and to meet financial and strategic goals.
• Take full responsibility of overall risk management across the Group’s multiple departments to assist with strategic decision making.
• Lead the Capital Raising efforts with Banks, Private Equity institutions and other funding partners.
• Take full ownership of all group finance related projects and the transformation of a passive function into a proactive financial management function taht supports all group departments.
• Take full ownership of the entire financial management function, ensuring compliance criteria are adhered to; and that the finance team accurately and timely report on financial information.
• Management of working capital and cash flow requirements
• Manage statutory audit for the Group.

• 10+ years of previous work experience as a CFO of a Medium to Large privately owned company [+- R 1 billion in Revenue; 500+ employees]
• Registered CA (SA) or similar
• Experience in an industry with a focus on Costing (Manufacturing, Logistics, FMCG)
