Aftercare Assistant

STARTING DATE: January 2024

Applicants should have:

• have a relevant teaching certificate or diploma;
• have proof of provisional registration with SACE;
• have a First Aid training certificate;
• have 3-5 years working experience in aftercare or a similar position; and
• be studying towards Bachelor’s degree in Education or Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) would be advantageous.

Suitable candidates should possess:

• have a deep understanding of children and know how to connect with the different age groups;
• have an understanding of and passion for student-centered learning;
• be able to work effectively as a member of a team;
• be willing to work and support the Catholic, Marist ethos of the school;
• be deeply committed to their development as a teacher and welcome constructive feedback, translating feedback into improvements and innovations;
• commit to the school’s transformation, equity and belonging strategic objectives in support of an equitable, inclusive and safe school environment for all; and
• demonstrate planning and organisation skills with superior detail orientation.

Major Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

• support the running of the after-school programme during school term (5-6 hours a day) as well during school holidays;
• take responsibility for the care and safety of our students;
• conduct diligent and responsible monitoring of all students at the aftercare;
• manage attendance records of the students;
• assist the students with homework’s; and
• organising and preparing snacks for students during lunch.
