Description

Crossroads School, founded in 1966, is an independent English-medium, co-educational preparatory school for some 200 learners. We are situated in Victory Park and are a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa. The school was established with a strong guiding purpose to address the educational needs of children who require support to develop and enhance their skills, to allow them to learn successfully.

The successful candidate must:

Responsibilities

  • Be SACE registered, have police clearance, sexual offenders register clearance and child protection register check.
  • A minimum of 5 years in teaching Afrikaans as a second language
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
  • Have suitable experience in the use of technology as an enhancement to teaching.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the CAPS curriculum.
  • Plan and deliver effective FAL Afrikaans lessons, including differentiation, for learners of various proficiency levels.
  • Identify learners who require extra support and create individualised remedial plans.
  • Experience in a remedial setting will be an advantage.
  • Utilise innovative teaching methods to engage learners and foster a love for the Afrikaans language.
  • Assess learners’ progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to learners and parents/guardians.
  • Engage proactively in the co-curricular and extra-mural life of the school.
  • Be a child-centred educationalist with strong interpersonal skills, able to work successfully as part of a
