Description
Our client, a well-established Chemical Manufacturing company, based in Johannesburg, is looking to fill the position of Technical Sales Representative.
Purpose:
To represent the regional technical sales team in identifying, maintaining, and growing sales of the company’s products to the market, within budget and the bounds of the sales strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain the image of the company to the marketplace.
- Maintain and increase sales to the existing customer base.
- In the repeat business to business environment in which the company trades ongoing good relationships are of significant importance to achieving long term goals therefore ethical service, support, response, and commitment are important relationship traits.
- To actively seek new opportunities to promote sales of the company’s products and services.
- To provide technical support at shop floor level, conducting problem solving, product demonstrations and presentations at customers.
- To report to the relevant Regional Business Manager on customer activity and movements in the marketplace.
- To submit written and verbal reports, with respect to sales performance, forecast, customer visits, budgets, market activity and market share.
- Responsible for stock forecasting and assisting with stock management.
- Behave in a manner in line with the company values and participate in the consultative and democratic process within the community and support the decisions of the community body.
- Any other reasonable requests to meet business objectives.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Analytical and numerical skills – able to confidently handle price, margin, financial and sales data.
- Good administrative and Excel skills – ability to establish, maintain, develop and manipulate data in worksheets including filtering, basic formulas and formatting.
- Ability to manage own workload and work effectively and efficiently to deadlines.
- Excellent team working skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers at all levels
- Quality conscious and methodical approach to work, with excellent attention to detail.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum level of education to Matric with Science and Maths at higher grade.
- Formal tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- Relevant sales and technical training.
- Technical and Sales experience.
- Computer literate and good administrative abilities.
- Experience in the chemical industry is an advantage.
- Experience of export markets is an advantage.
