Description
Duties & Responsibilities

- Monitor and ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting.
- Provide and/or timely file all relevant financial information required for regulator/government filings throughout the year (eg statistical returns).
- Lead and drive the accounting team to achieve period end close process according to set metrics/timetables, liaising with other functional areas (eg Tax, Treasury, SSC) to ensure timely completion. Trouble-shoot and resolve system issues with IT as applicable.
- Responsible for review and accuracy of the weekly 4 week cash forecast for cash outflows and sundry/non-trade inflows in respect of allocated entities
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve and simplify various accounting activities occurring throughout the year.
- Ensure that a fit for purpose internal control environment operates, is compliant with Group requirements, and is effective. Complete verification processes over internal controls as scheduled and/or requested.
- Regularly review all accounting balances to ensure accuracy, validity, completeness, existence, recoverability of all balances.
- Prepare, review, have audited (as applicable) and timely file all statutory financial statements for companies as allocated responsibility for.
- Review and approve (as applicable) financial system master data changes for companies as allocated responsibility for.
- Provide all necessary financial accounting information as requested by JV Participants
- Management and control of the Balance Sheet for companies as allocated responsibility for. Actively engage and work with other functional areas (eg Tax, Treasury, SSC) to ensure accurate financial accounting information.
- Ensure all group consolidated half year and year end financial accounting and reporting requirements are met.
- Provide first level accounting advice to site based finance teams and engage with group on more technical and judgemental matters.
- Ensure JV cash calls are made in a timely manner and monitor.
- Liaise with external auditors in the provision of required information for half year, year end and entity financial statement purposes.
- Execute the require capital management activities in conjunction with Treasury ensuring that legal entities can legally meet the capital management initiatives.
- Lead, coach, empower and hold accountable team members to ensure delivery against performance targets.

Desired Experience & Qualification
The incumbent should have the following:
- Must be a South African citizen - this is non negotiable
- Must be a Qualified Chartered Accountant
- Must have Financial Management experience
- Must have managed a team
- Mining experience will be given preference, however open to other hard industry experience
- Must have at least 6-7 years of relevant experience within a similar technical finance role
- SAP experience is non negotiable
- Africa experience would be beneficial
