Description
Responsibilities:

- Deploying and supporting multiple MySQL database instances.

- Monitoring, optimising and managing database capacity and database performance.

- Working with teams to optimise database usage.
-
- Developing and managing database migrations approval process.
-
- Developing backup and testable recovery procedures as well as supporting database replication.

- Working with multiple teams to improve processes and standards.
-
- Supporting the creation and maintenance of development and test database environments.
Profile
Qualifications:
- BSc in Computer Science or relevant tertiary qualification preferred but not essential
Skills / Experience:
- 5+ years of experience.
- In depth experience in MySQL
- In depth knowledge of normalisation, optimisation and sharding.
- Working with multiple master / replica databases.
- Experience with scrubbing data (PII) & building fixtures for development.
- Experience with the following:
- Relational database design, performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Linux administration.
- Experience in at least one scripting language
- Issue tracking systems (Jira preferred but not essential).
- Version Control systems (Git preferred but not essential).
- Experience working in a cloud environment (Kubernetes preferred but not essential).
- Experience in the following would be advantageous:
- Working with Kubernetes (& databases in Kubernetes).
- Working in Micro service / SOA / event based architectures.
- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles and the concept of Database Reliability Engineering.
