Description
Responsible for all system analysis aspects of planning, executing and managing the data migration process. A successful candidate must be able to build relationships quickly and translate customer / business requirements into actionable technical requirements that will result in seamless conversions within a system and seamless migrations between systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyse the business requirement/s in order to :
- Conduct a system / solution process gap assessment (does the product fit in the new system instance).
- Articulate the gaps in the process.
- Conduct system impact analysis for the core system as well as the peripheral / supporting systems.
- Determine the system constraints, if any, and provide feedback on the findings with recommended steps.
- Conduct system impact analysis for the core system as well as the peripheral / supporting systems.
- Give input to and drive the system solution design for building a conversion utility / tool between schemes and products within the same core system instance as well as a migration utility / tool for schemes and products from one system to another.
- Perform data analysis.
- Design data clean-up activities prior to migration.
- Write system requirement documents for software development.
- Conduct unit testing and integration testing of the solution that has been built.
- Oversee the overall data format and detail required for migration to support effective business processing in the destination system.
- Support all legacy system extracts and data analysis throughout the process.
- Ensure successful test runs of the migration process and subsequent business processing in the destination database prior to production runs.
- Develop risk matrices and mitigation plans and report these to management.
- Provide input and review of test cases and scenarios whilst working closely with the testing resources to ensure successful runs by supporting all testing functions and findings.
- Ensure complete and proper documentation for the migration requirements, rules, value mapping and field mapping at a database level as well as for any data extracts and reporting.
- Provide technical guidance when required.
- Works with designers and analysts to improve specifications and /or to find alternatives to software / programming solutions.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Prior migration project experience is a must.
- Relevant qualifications / certifications
- An inherent and detailed understanding of the COMPASS system and processes is critical; this includes the database and table structures, data integrity and the various sub system processes.
- The ability to carry out light COMPASS configuration that supports the migration tool build is mandatory.
- A good understanding of the COMPASS take on process (mapping, sequencing and processing) would be a huge value add.
- Business analysis functions.
- SQL extracts experience.
- Experience with different technologies and applications such as workflow is ideal.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills.

- Strong team player who can also work independently and without supervision.
- Must be able to discuss the technology and solution with the internal architecture and development teams.
- Can translate fairly complex functional design into technical design.
- Knowledge and ability to analyse the design and software application on one or more platforms and provide recommendation for system enhancement / build and address errors.
- A good working knowledge of hardware and software interfaces.
- Develop and maintain strong personal and working relationships.
