We seek to appoint a dynamic, experienced and professionally qualified Senior Rowing Coach. The incumbent must have the flexibility to get the best out of students with a broad range of abilities is and possess a willingness to be involved in the extended rowing programme across the whole school.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coaching our top-performing rowing crew, ensuring their continuous development and competitive success. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to inspire and mentor young athletes to reach their full potential

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training programme for the
  • Open age group, focusing on technical proficiency, physical conditioning, and mental preparation.
  • Coordinate, manage and provide a technical developmental plan for the Open and Under 16 age groups.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Head Rowing Coach.
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of each team member and make strategic decisions regarding boat composition and athlete assignments.
  • Foster teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among team members.
  • Coordinate with other coaches, support staff, and team administrators to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, and alignment with the overall goals of the rowing programme.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety protocols, rules, and regulations in coordination with the organisation and governing bodies.
  • Promote and maintain a safe training environment, addressing potential hazards and implementing appropriate safety measures.
  • Stay up-to-date with current coaching techniques, equipment, and industry trends through continuous professional development.
  • The ability to analyse rowing performances and identify areas for improvement, designing targeted training plans to address specific weaknesses.
  • Assist with the procurement and maintenance of necessary rowing equipment, ensuring safety standards are met.Requirements:
    • Have a minimum of three years of coaching experience. It will be desirable
    • for the successful candidate to have coaching experience at Provincial or National Level.
    • Extensive knowledge of rowing techniques, training methodologies, and race strategies.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
    • Be able to work within a team environment.
    • A high level of experience as a rowing coach, preferably with a focus on high-performance teams or elite athletes.
    • Certification or accreditation as a rowing coach is desirable.

    The successful candidate should have:

    • An interest and commitment to developing the whole child athlete.
    • The ability to work positively with fellow coaching staff, parents and relevant stakeholders.
    • A track record of successful athlete development and achievement of competitive results.
