Description

Main Purpose:

Responsible for designing, planning and implementing logistics solutions, whilst managing stakeholder (internal & external) expectations throughout the solution design and implementation phase.

  • This role directly supports company objectives and contributes to identifying, analyzing & developing value-adding and robust solutions for current & prospective customers.
  • The role directly supports the SIGMA goals and Strategy for DSV Road Logistics, identifying, analyzing and implementing CIP initiatives for Road Logistics.
  • Successful collaboration with Operations team & other internal stakeholders is critical

Basic Minimum Requirements: Matric

Tertiary Qualifications:B-Eng Degree in Industrial Engineering

  • MS Office Suite - Advanced Level

Job Related Requirements:

  • Minimum five years or more relevant logistics & supply chain management experience
  • Industrial Engineering experience: Minimum 3 years in the logistics Industry
  • SIGMA experience:Minimum 3 years in the Logistics Industry
  • Leadership experience in Project or Operations role: Minimum2 years with effective staff performance management & development
  • Detail oriented, high work rate & quality of work
  • WMS/ERP Systems Skills and experience: Minimum 2 years operational experience, development experience will be advantageous
  • TMS Systems Skills and experience: Minimum3 years
  • Route Optimization: Minimum3 years in route planning and OptimizationSupply Chain Optimization
  • Unendorsed license & own transport;
  • Ability to travel around Gauteng, South Africa
  • Excellent written & verbal communications skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills & able to work in a collaborative & team-based environment;
  • Aptitude to multi-task & employ effective problem solving abilities;
  • Detail Orientated and Analytical

  • General business acumen and sound knowledge of procurement principles, engineering economics and fundamental accounting principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engineered Solutions: Identify, analyse & develop value-adding solutions for current & prospective clients;
  • Tools: Application of the following tools and/or methodologies as appropriate and when required:
    • Qualitative flow measurement
    • Procurement tender adjudication
    • Problem Solving
  • Sales Support: Assist with 'technical selling' to clients and with the development & documenting of proposals, response to tenders, RFQs & RFPs;
  • Analysis and recommendations: 1) Data (analysis, comparison, sense checking), 2) Processes (supporting business objectives, complete, accurate, relevant, error proofed, common exceptions covered, measurable), 3) Facilities (best practices, flow, flexibility, compliance);
  • Business cases / feasibility studies: Develop as required depending on financial investment required and risk profile. Tools and aspects to consider include ROI calculations, quantified value, opportunity for productivity improvements and future growth / revenue potential
  • Continuous Improvement Management: Manage and Report on Cost Saving and Sigma Initiatives
  • SIGMA: Identify and Implement SIGMA Initiatives
  • Group Facilitation: Leading & influencing a diverse group through planning and/or problem solving activities as required, including Advance Quality Planning (AQP) sessions;
  • Business Support: 1) Provide input to annual Solutions Business Plan and Strategy Development, 2) Obtain update on performance against plan quarterly, to ensure focused activities are always supporting business objectives;
  • Travel: Reasonable local travel requirement to use knowledge, skills and experience in support of relevant DSV business objectives
