Description

The Legal Practice Council (LPC) is currently embarking on a process to fill vacant positionĀ for its Provincial Offices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify applications to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Create profiles on database of legal practitioner;
  • Administer the cancellation of contracts on notification;
  • Place orders for examination papers and books for distribution at examinations; Coordinate arrangements for oral examinations;
  • Monitor examinations to ensure compliance with the Act and company policy and procedures;
  • Coordinate the appointment of examiners for participation on the examination panel
  • Process and capture examination results within the allocated timeframe;
  • Issue certificates of good standing within the appropriate turnaround time and correspond with legal practitioners regarding non-compliance;
  • Receive and process right of appearance in the High Court and admission applications for enrolment;
  • Conduct the initial check for supplementary affidavits and endorsing applications
  • Attend to requests for verifications from foreign law societies and from candidates who wish to apply to foreign jurisdictions;
  • Receive and administer High Court applications for admission, re-admission as an attorney, notary, conveyancer, enrolment, removal, condonation and related;
  • Open and register firms and branch offices;
  • Administer the input, upkeep and extraction of records related to the attorneys registered with the LPC and update practitioners information, including appointment of directors at firms i.e. ensure FF certification, training compliance, etc.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • National Diploma in Administration or similar (NQF 6)
  • 4 years administrative experience
  • Computer literacy (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Legal Practice Act.
