Description

Our client, a well-known FMCG concern is looking to fill this position and you wil be based in SHERQ Centre of Excellence, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will report to the Group Manager SHERQ.

Purpose of position
Development and Implementation of new security related procedures, processes and practices, which ensure the protection of Groups people and other physical assets.

Key performance areas include (but are not limited to):
1. Strategic and Financial Results

  • Prevent, Respond, Investigate, Solve, Improve on security systems continuously – Utilising the PDCA Cycle, on a systemic/strategic level
  • Stock loss tolerance level understanding and downward management – Security Related
  • Devise stock loss reduction measurement tools and solutions
  • Vendor selection, understanding and integration into security strategy
  • Policy and procedure development
  • Ability to identify and source expertise (3rd party providers such as Monitoring & Response)

2. Operational Results

  • Continuous best practice alignment and improvement
  • Access to international best practice in the industry
  • Understanding of Black Market and risk posed to on-road theft as well as on-site theft probabilities
  • Full understanding of SHERQ – ISO standards
  • Legal liability understanding and custodianship
  • Integrity management (Ethics advancement; integrity testing such as mock buying / selling, etc)
  • Oversee entire security contract operations for the region
  • Accountable for the integrity of data captured as well as the timely submission of the information.
  • Collaborate with Security Service Providers, Law Enforcement and other relevant stakeholders to identify and advice on hot spots identified in the region.
  • Initiate and manage special operations with formal feedback
  • Gathering of intelligence and provide key business insight
  • Establish Network of value-adding contacts

3. Customer and Stakeholder Relationship

  • Build effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Provide Strategic and Systemic information for relevant Committees and Council meetings as and when required
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the community, interested and affected parties

4. Effective Leadership

  • Adapting current work practices, procedures, skills and competencies in response to changing environment and technology advancement.

5. Innovation and Improvement Results

  • Product knowledge and attached risk – “hot” product identification and management
  • Warehousing and Distribution procedures implementation to prevent losses and damages
  • Full understanding of best-fit security technology including database of pre-approved vendors

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Degree (or higher) in Criminal Justice, Security, Business Management or equivalent education or experience.
  • 7-10 years’ experience managing security operations at a senior level in the organisation

The successful candidate must have the following competencies/skills:

  • People management skills
  • Experience within the business continuity and operational security disciplines
  • Understanding of international relationship building and development of cross-functional/peer relationships.
  • Familiarity with BC standards (e.g., ISO/BS 25999, 22301, etc.)
  • Understanding of crisis operations, risk management, and crisis communication.
  • Ability to manage tactical (daily) operations and participate in development of strategic program plans.
  • Results-oriented person with strong delivery focus who can work independently and collaboratively with global teams.
  • Experienced in corporate/DC security for a global company.
  • Experience writing and publishing security standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of physical security systems and components.
  • Skilled in developing metrics and in conducting security related trend analysis.
  • Ability to develop and deliver security awareness training programs.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both written and verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills).
  • Ability to think clearly, analyse semi-quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical/process requirements, and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the enterprise.
  • BA/BS or higher degree with a strong academic record preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of laws and practices of investigations, security related matters and workplace safety
  • Considerable knowledge of current security technology including access control, CCTV, identification and special applications.
  • Experience in working overseas partners with an understanding of diversity
  • Able to make decisions under pressure
  • Drive and lead discussions.
  • Good Computer Literacy (MS Office suite, SAP would be an advantage as well as Laboratory Management Software (LIMS)
  • Have own reliable transport
