Description
Widney Transport Components is a supplier of specialist commercial vehicle glass and sliding window solutions. The company supplies solutions to the bus and train industry and is the only local accredited sliding window supplier for Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Ford.
Main job purpose
To coordinate and manage the Widney QA Department and Quality Control functions by ensuring that quality policy and procedures are adhered to at all times, ensuring that timeous corrective action is taken upon identification of non-compliance to systems, products and processes, and to support Widney in being a world class supplier of components.
Main Objective
- To effectively manage and maintain the quality management system (IATF16949), environmental system and the health and safety system, to ensure that all standards and legislation are adhered to throughout Widney.
- To manage and lead the entire quality department by directing activities, monitoring performance and developing staff to ensure that the objectives of the department are achieved on an ongoing basis.
- To manage the costs of the department, by setting the budget and managing expenditure accordingly.
- To continuously identify and execute improvement initiatives that result in driving down quality costs for the business.
- To liaise and build effective working relationship with key stakeholders; including suppliers and customers; in order to improve supplier efficiencies and quality as well as ensure overall customer satisfaction in relation to quality standards.
- Ensure that all existing and new products developed are produced according to set quality standards and customer requirements, thereby ensuring business sustainability.
- To oversee the effective control of scrap and rework, by developing and implementing a system that focuses on continuous improvement with the goal to eliminate scrap and rework totally.
- To analyse quality data within the business and identify the root cause of quality issues in order to improve quality standards and minimise costs on an ongoing basis.
- To ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business.
- To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes.
Critical Job Requirements
Qualification(s)
- National Diploma in Quality
- Grade 12
Knowledge
- Good Systems Knowledge (QMS, SABS/ISO14001, IATF16949/, VDA, SANS, DMAIC).
- Working knowledge of problem solving techniques (e.g. Six Sigma).
- Knowledge of ISIR,PPAP, PSW.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation ( BCEA, LRA etc).
