You Will Be Part of a Growing Team
As Production Supervisor you will directly coordinate various phases of seed receiving operations which will include raw seed receiving, seed health (fumigation), seed quality, production and personnel planning and inventory management. You will oversee the Corteva’s Health and Safety standards, responding to personnel, operational and safety and environmental incidents, process safety management, housekeeping, personnel attendance, other operational discipline and quality management. As supervisor, you will ensure the plants are supplied with raw material requirements in accordance with production schedules
This role reports to Production Planning Manager (PPM), though the incumbent could receive various direct assignments from Production Location Manager (PLM) from time to time.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your Challenge:

  • Supervises Raw Seed receiving operations through team leaders to ensure accurate seed receiving, material movement, seed health (fumigation) and raw seed storage.
  • Reviews production schedules and ensures raw seed availability for plants to complete planned schedules.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve productivity, performance, product quality, working conditions and efficiencies.
  • Assists PPM and PLM managers in administrative matters (input into business and budget planning, ISO or safety coordination and process-improvement teams) for responsible area. Helps ensure safety training
    is completed and safety regulations are enforced.
  • Participates in seasonal or part-time workforce planning and hiring activity. Ensures employees are trained on job duties and equipment. Provides
    regular coaching and feedback, performance management and development.
  • Develops and maintains good communications with plant personnel, employees, growers and vendors. Works with other leaders to coordinate workflow and coordination of resources between departments.
  • Monitors product quality throughout effective sampling and grading of raw seed, follow-up on yearly seed carryover sampling.
  • Ensures effective fumigation of raw (new and carry-over) seed to ensure continuous “seed health” and timeous availability of raw seed when required by plant.
  • Material Movement and storage: Enforces Corteva’s Material Movement policy and storage.
  • Account for total raw seed inventory, inventory movement and status thereof.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • A minimum of 12 (Maths and Science) with further higher qualification in Production Management/Supply chain Management will be expected.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a production area/seed supervision, in the agriculture sector.
  • A valid drivers licence, forklift license will be an advantage.
  • Experience in SAP and Seed Fumigation is a must.
  • Experience with other agricultural system (e.g. SeedPro) will be advantage.
  • Ability to plan and execute according to plan.
  • Personal computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
  • People management.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Mathematical knowledge (reconciliations).
  • Discipline, structured, organize, trusted person.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
