Duties & Responsibilities

EXPERIENCE

 

5 years or more experience in a manufacturing or project execution environment

5 years or more project procurement of plant, equipment, and services for projects up to R 500m

5 years managerial experience manufacturing or project environment

Logistic Management, including cross-border movement of plant and equipment and storage control

Proficiency in Syspro or similar ERP software would be advantageous

MRP Systems knowledge

Strong computer skills in MS Office Word and Excel

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Analyse current procurement activities and recommend improvements through more efficient procurement methods, quantity discounts, standardisation, adherence to company procedures, value analysis and co-operative purchasing.

 

Provide guidance and assistance to the division’s Project Managers and Engineers in all aspects of purchasing.

Ensure requests for quotations are supported with technical specifications, including Terms & Conditions.

Update bid documents, suppliers’ lists, department procedures and recommend changes to standard practices in order to ensure that we obtain competitive quotes on commodities and services and comply with Quality Assurance requirements.

Review Tenders and Award Documents to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and conformance to correct Terms and Conditions, buying ethics and defendable adjudication criteria.

Responsible for awarding Contracts with consensus from respective business units

Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation on request for quotes, purchases, contracts, correspondence and related follow-ups.

Expedite outstanding purchase orders to ensure delivery requirements are met.

Interview current suppliers to improve levels of service, as well as new suppliers to develop and establish new sources of supply.

Collect and report statistics to measure supplier performance.

Co-ordinate and resolve problems with users and suppliers.

Assist Shipping and Receiving

Assist with Accounts-Payable queries if so required.

Work actively to achieve and exceed the company’s BBBEE targets.

Assist the Estimating departments with project bidding.

Track and maintain proper levels of Strategic Materials and other inventory items.

Ensure all purchases of all goods and services meet the contract requirements, as well as government regulations, and are at the best price from reputable and reliable suppliers.

Continuous evaluation and improvement of the procurement systems and practices in force.

As custodian of company requisition system, maintain and upgrade the system on a continuous basis to address any shortcomings.

Enforce the necessary limits of authority for the procurement of goods or services and report any deviations from company policies and procedures to senior management

  • Matric
  • National Diploma Engineering/ BTech or any relevant qualification
  • 10 years’ experience as a Project Planner
  • Candidates must have industry-specific experience
  • Advanced computer literacy
