Description

Well known FMCG Company in the Food Industry based in durban has a vacancy for a Process engineer who will investigate and identify opportunities to improve quality, effeciencies and plant output.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible person in terms of Hazardous Chemical Substances Regulations
  • Improvement Projects:
    • Projects identified at Weekly Operations Meeting / Quality Meeting.
    • Implement Six Sigma methodology for Improvement Projects.
    • Participate and lead HAZOP and HACCP studies.
    • Use Modprop to document projects.
    • Ensure all documentation provided / updated at completion of project.
    • Ensure all relevant plant personnel trained in new process following project change.
  • Conduct Mass and Energy balances around:
    • Analyse information to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies.
    • Benchmark against Lallemand plants.
  • Expert knowledge of all plant processes.
  • Identify recurring troublesome production problems. Propose and implement process changes where agreed.
  • Assist production to resolve processing challenges timeously.
  • Train technicians in process operation as required.
  • Plant Variable costs: Monitor plant raw material usages as per weekly reports, Validate usages of concern with process data and Identify causes of deviations and recommended / implement changes.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • BSc Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years process experience in analytical and problem solving field or disciplines - chemical / manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of process in related fermentation / distilling /baking industry LEAN Manufacturing, TPM or 6 Sigma.

Package & Remuneration

R 450 000/Per Annum CTC
