Description

Our client is searching for a Paralegal/ Legal Secretary for Levy Collections and Debt Collection.

Duties & Responsibilities

Opening files

Run with files from beginning to end (with no or minimal supervision) which will include:

Ensuring that relevant notices to commence proceedings are sent out

Draft pleadings, notices, affidavits, Indexes, Warrants etc. (defended and undefended matters)

Launch and monitor various applications as is required to finalise a matter [including but not limited to Section 66, Section 72, Section 65, Rule 27(6)]

Ensure that Court files are properly indexed and paginated

Correspond with all relevant parties including clients, debtors, sheriffs, opposing parties etc

Ensure that the relevant attorney attending Court is instructed on time and provided with all necessary documentation for the hearing

Respond to queries received from Court relating to judgment

Arrange for sales in execution (movable and immovable property) (including but not limited to notices, advertisements etc.)

Reporting to clients

Diarising files and maintaining your own diary

Update and create templates on Ghost Practice

Screen Director’s calls

Assist clients, debtors, sheriffs with queries, both written and telephonically

Proofread correspondence and other legal documents prepared by Director from time to time

Creating and maintaining client files

Assist with month end process i.e. sorting and sending of invoices

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum of 10 years paralegal / secretarial experience

Experience in collections relating to arrear levies, body corporates and homeowners associations

Experience on Ghost Practice

Excellent verbal and written communicating skills in both Afrikaans and English

Excellent research skills

Excellent drafting skills

Must know defended and undefended process in both the Magistrate’s Court and High Court (including experience in working on CaseLines)

Proficiency in all Microsoft applications

Must be forward thinking, open-minded with a willingness to learn, proactive, a quick learner, detail-oriented, have a positive “will-do” work ethic and a very strong sense of responsibility
