REQUIREMENTS:

  • + 8 years IT Experience (with 3 years Oracle experience)
  • Work experience/IT Degree/Diploma
  • Willing to support 24 x 7 operations (+on call)
  • South African citizens only
  • Experience with Linux - basic installation and operations processes
    • Linux Shell Scripting
    • VI skills
    • Deal with performance issues on Linux
    • Basic knowledge of zipper and PULP
    • Rundeck, Ansible
    • Linux security and crypto functionalities
  • Experience with administrating Java Web- Applications
  • Scripting and use of XMLAPI functions
  • Work experience with database auditing, logging and monitoring ideally knowledge of McAfee DAM Tool – knowledge about management console handling and sensor handling/monitoring
  • ITIL process knowledge and work experience (Required). ITIL certification (advantageous)
  • Database operations knowhow in an enterprise context
  • Experience with Oracle RDMS basic operations
  • Basic experience with SPLUNK is helpful
  • Database security knowledge is helpful
  • Agile experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation, update and maintenance of DAM Tool components
    • Management Consoles
    • Sensor software on Oracle Data Base servers
    • Kernel Module that fits to the present LINUX OS version on the Oracle DB
  • Support initial roll out process and subsequent updates of DAM Tool on all relevant Oracle DB- Servers in close cooperation with Oracle Change Team.
    • Test new software versions and functionality before roll out in the INT environment and PROD environment.
    • Build new installation packages RPMs that don’t need the complete root rights.
    • Adapt configurations if necessary.
    • Install and Maintain sensor software on the Oracle Database Servers.
    • Install/deinstall and maintain the suitable kernel software to the LINUX OS system on the Oracle DB Servers.
    • Configure DAM software according to requirements.
    • Conduct functionality tests and performance tests after roll out.
    • understand and adapt (if needed) roll out process and change process.
  • Operate DAM Tool in a 24 x 7 manner.
    • Monitor functionality of DAM Components.
    • Make sure that the generated data is delivered to SPLUNK on a regular defined base.
    • Stop / start sensor, deactivate kernel module in case of problems.
    • Assure high availability and continuous functionality of DAM.
    • Prevent instabilities caused by DAM on Oracle.
    • Make sure that the DAM sensor is rolled out on every new Oracle DB server and every database is monitored .
    • Tight communication and cooperation with relevant interface partners.
    • Engage with support providers regarding Oracle/LINUX operational topics and oversee all planned and ongoing tasks and activities that could have an influence / impact on the DAM Tool.
    • Make sure that DAM does not interfere with Data base functionality.
  • Engage with software provider McAfee.
    • To request new kernel versions for new LINUX OS versions 6 weeks in advance of LINUX Master Release creation.
    • To make sure that the ordered kernel module is delivered in time and is certified by the software provider (automated Unit, Integration and GUI Tests are prepared by the software provider and are conducted before kernel module build process)
    • To work on service requests and receive bug fixes and work on active problems with product support.
    • To address , follow and prioritise product enhancements.
    • To follow up the status of all open service requests, bugs and product enhancement requests opened at least on a quarterly basis.
  • Refine processes with interface partners (Linux and Oracle Operations Team, Splunk Operations team, RoMa Team and PAM Team ) and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of service offers, SLAs and KPIs.
  • Assist data base operations team and application teams with DAM related enquires / problems.
  • Action and resolve IM (Incident Management) tickets.
  • Action and resolve CIM (Critical Incident Management) tickets as required.
  • Raise and lead tasks PM (Problem Management) tickets as identified.
  • Action and coordinate CM (Change Management) tasks and tickets as required.
  • Preparation and adoption of system/technical documentation according to present settings.
