Description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Negotiate prices terms and delivery capabilities with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders, to secure advantages terms
- Collaborate with other departments, such as warehousing and logistics, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers
- Review & improve procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality, delivery requirements & ongoing feasibility
- Design or implement supply chains that support environmental policies
- Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows
- Confer with operations & stores to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products
- Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality
- Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service
- Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
- Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning
- Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance
- Planning delivery timetables to communicate to operations, delivery dates, stock delays and to ensure there is enough stock for the projects
- Compliance with an ISO 9001, 2015 standard
- Supervision of subordinate staff
- Any other reasonable request
- Design or implement procurement Management that supports business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies
- Maintaining the Item code Master data and Supplier / Sub Contractor database on SAP
- Develop material standard price list
- Review and develop ways to improve Procurement processes
- Review and recon jobs to ensure recoveries of item / services procured
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum National Diploma or Higher Qualification in Procurement
- More than 5 years relevant experience + relevant qualification
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Personal Characteristics: Time management, speed and accuracy of administration, good communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of SAP and MS Office
- Ability to meet deadlines
Key Performance Areas:
- Ensuring goods and services are procured at the best price and rate and delivered in time as per project programs / requirements
- Building strong working relationships both internally and with key suppliers
- Ensuring compliance with the procurement policy and compliance with the required turnaround times are met
- Ensure BEE procurement requirements are met
- Records maintained in terms of database requirements
