Our client, one of the leading foundries in Southern Africa and a global leader in the manufacture of heavy, steel products is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer (GCC Factories) for their Plant based in the East of Johannesburg.

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for Maintenance and Engineering services for the plant to achieve maximum financial benefit from the plant’s capital expenditures, maintenance expenditures, production equipment and fixed assets by optimum use of resources.

Key responsibililities include:

• Operations: Ensuring optimum availability of machinery through application of a maintenance management system.
• Accountable for safety compliance and legal compliance.
• Project Management: Plan, manage and execute all phases of agreed capital projects, including coordinating workers, material and equipment.  Establish specifications for work to be completed.
• Financial: Cost accountability – purchase and maintain plant / equipment at competitive prices to meet budget requirements.
• People Management.
• Health & Safety:  Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies, standards, systems and processes. Accountable supervisor in terms of GMR2 of the OHS Act.

Key requirements:

• Bachelor of Engineering: Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent
• GCC Factories essential
• Proven track record in a similar environment
• Proven to take initiative with a sense of energy and urgency.
