Description
Our client is looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to join their team in Durban.
The successful incumbent will ensure that the Engineering Team, Test Team and Manufacturing Team are kept informed with details of the latest standards and legal requirements of the products being developed and manufactured.
He/she will develop compliance management plans to ensure that existing products remain compliant with required standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- At early stages of projects, assist technical teams by doing research towards legal and technical standards that products and manufacturing facilities need to comply with.
- Assist with risk management of certification & validation stages of projects.
- Assist with providing the validation team with documentation of the standards as well as procedures to follow when testing products.
- Hold responsibility of keeping teams informed about changes in local and international standards such as Industry-Specific Legal Acts, Health & Safety standards, etc.
- Assist business development managers by doing research towards standards in tenders.
- Assist with writing SOP documents used to regulate the procedures that need to be followed to certify products.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- LLB or Compliance Officer diploma.
- Report writing essential.
- Experience with research towards standards such as STS, NRCS 1529, IEC 6068, IEC 60950, JASWIC, WRAS, AS 3565, RED 220, ISO 4064, OIML R49 and CE declaration will be valued, but is not essential.
- Creative thinking.
- Attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Interfacing with developers, managers, consultants, and clients.
