Description

The Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Johannesburg, wishes to appoint a lecturer qualified and registered as a Podiatrist, who will contribute actively towards teaching and learning, research and CPD development; in-line with the vision, mission and goals of the University of Johannesburg.

 

The successful candidate is expected to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision respectively, contribute to the development and review of undergraduate teaching and curricula and, where necessary, become involved in community outreach activities and CPD activities, in-line with the departmental and Faculty specific objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Teaching of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences (Department Podiatry).
  • Actively involved in core activities of the department such as academic administration, course development, consulting and community related projects.
  • Actively participating in the research focus areas of the Department, producing outputs such as journal papers.
  • Facilitate teaching and learning within the domain of Podiatry.
  • Facilitate theory and practice integration.
Profile
  • A Masters qualification in Podiatry
  • Podiatry qualification approved for registration as a practitioner by the Health Professions Council of South Africa
  • At least one-year Lecturing at university level & clinical supervision experience in the field of Podiatry
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Podiatrist.

  • Excellent command in the field of Podiatry
  • Good written and verbal English communications skills
  • Teaching skills and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Enthusiasm and passion for education, research and community engagement
  • The ability to function independently as well as in a team
  • Good time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.

Recommendations:

  • Lecturing or tutoring experience
  • Registration for a PhD, or plan to register
  • Involvement in student clinical supervision or tutoring.
