Description
A well respected engineering consultancy is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer (PrEng) with extensive industrial projects experience (10 or more years experience) to join their Durban office.
Experienced in Agri related industrial plants (sugar, paper & pulp, miling, materials handling etc) and fire protection.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Engineering integration and co-ordination
- Engineering deliverables, including
- Design concepts, preliminary design and detailed design (with fire protection as a key objective)
- Mechanical engineering calculations,
- Specification of equipment and compiling technical specifications, Bill of materials, Technical specifications and BOQs done by other team members
- Preparation of technical drawings
- Engineering reports
- Managing the delivery of technical resources on multi-disciplinary projects
- Process Engineering
- Construction Monitoring
- Project communication
- Managing client relationships and expectation
- Financial: Budgeting for revenue and costs on projects, managing projects accurately according to budget, to ensure reliable profitability on projects
- Business Development – securing new contracts (new and existing clients)
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BSc. or BEng. Mechanical Engineering degree
- Professionally Registered with ECSA
- Minimum of 10 years experience in industrial projects and consulting engineering.
- Experienced in Agri related industrial plants (sugar, paper & pulp, miling, materials handling etc) and fire protection.
- Experienced in managing technical resources on multi-disciplinary projects
- Strong commercial acumen
- Knowledge of:
- Engineering contracts (NEC, FIDIC etc)
- Fire regulations
- Sugar industry knowledge
- Power generation
