Description
L1 NOC Technical Support (Cape Town Southern Suburbs): Candidates required who are technical and must be experienced in supporting customers remotely by managing incident fault logging and resolution and problem management fault identification and coordination.
Duties & Responsibilities
Require the following from candidates:
- Candidates must firmly understand:
· Difference between Private and Public IP range
· OSI model (definition and function)
· What happens at each layer of the OSI model
· What is Ethernet
o What OSI layers do ethernet operate
o What is an ethernet frame
· Fibre networks:
o What is fibre connections
o What is the difference between FTTH and FTTB
o What is the purpose of an ONT
o What is an attenuator and where is it used
o What is the measurement of optical signal strength
· Subnetting:
o Calculating subnets
o CIDR notation
o Difference between Class A, Class B, Class C networks
§ Range demarcations by referencing the relevant IP standards
· Difference between UDP & TCP
· Basic protocols and services like:
o Telnet
o Ping
o Tracert
o SSH
o NAT
o PAT
o ARP
o RARP
o VLAN
o DNS
Desired Experience & Qualification

- Matric and tertiary qualification,
- Minimum of A+ and N+
- Appropriate network certifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years year technical support experience
- Minimum 1 -2 years telephonic technical support experience
- Must be able to communicate well, audibly and professionally in English
