Description
We are looking for an IT technician to assist in installing, configuring and maintaining our computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners.
In addition, this person would be responsible for ensuring that they are able to provide technical support on all systems (hardware and software), responding to matters in a timeous manner as well as being able to maintain stock and communicate with urgency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean/organize electronic equipment
- Label/stock take once a month
- Manage/monitor /maintain the branch network.
- Manage printers/consumables: coupons, toner, staples, paper, thermal paper
- Manage backup equipment: computers, monitors, keyboard and mice, ticket printers, coupon readers, displays, digital advertising, switches, modems, 4G routers, cat5 cables, smart router.
- Manage DSTV decoders/tv wiring.
- Monitor and maintain electrical points: UPS, plugs, outside signs, surge protection.
- Maintain camera system: cameras, DVRs, positioning.
- Maintain fingerprint clocking system and to be able to troubleshoot if a fault has been detected
- VOIP/PABX: Check if outgoing calls are blocked on some extensions and configuring VOIP phones.
- VPNs: monitor uptime and report downtime immediately, monitor internal IP’s connection.
- 4G backup: Check data on a weekly basis.
- Monitor/manage smart router. Switch from fibre to 4G router or ADSL for internet backup.
- Keep all Computers virus free by monitoring and troubleshooting
- Block internet/torrent/redirection sites
- Keep wiring organized and clean
- Report all faulty equipment and replace backup equipment if used.
- Manage dyndns on all users/ double backup must be in place.
- Repair faulty computers and install Windows 7 and 10.
- Label all network cables in the server room.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Experience:
- Practical experience in configurations such as phones, printers, scanners and routers
- Knowledge of VPN’s as well as static/ dynamic IP’s
- Troubleshooting experience
- Practical experience in VOIP
- Identifying network traffic
Qualifications:
- Matric is a must.
- IT diploma or equivalent will be advantageous.
