Description
Well estabilished client based in the East of Johannesburg is looking for an Industrial Engineer, who has knowledge and experience of line haul distribution with exposure to the automotive industry. Ensuring compliance to engineering standards and best practice development. Work with the Road Exco team to create standard reporting methods. A Industrial Engineer with strong Project Management Experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and Price proposed solutions that includes (Transport RFQ’s, Truck design requirements, Warehousing Layout, Staffing Calculations, MHE requirement)
- Use pricing model
- Creating and assisting with Client proposal and presentations
- Schedule and plan continuous improvement initiatives using recognized methodologies like Lean, 6 Sigma, etc.
- Evaluate and analyse data, processes and material flow related to Road operations in order to identify improvement opportunities.
- Implement initiatives and monitor quantitative benefits of changes.
- Develop business cases for financial investments where required, including ROI calculations, quantified value, productivity improvements, etc.
- Documenting, monitoring and communicating project timelines, milestones and objectives.
- Establishing task teams and guiding them through process of stabilization of operations
- Follow disciplined change management process to ensure that implemented changes are sustainable.
- Use and further enhance the Site Health Check process
- Problem solving facilitation and training where required
- Developing innovative solutions with clients
- Working closely with Project, Quality & IT teams to ensure standardization of best practices
Desired Experience & Qualification
EDUCATION / COMPUTER PACKAGES:
- Matric / NQF 4 equivalent
- Degree: Industrial Engineering
- Advanced MS Office (high level of MS Excel skills)
- Autocad
- MS Visio
- MS Projects
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in contract transport solutions, production logistics, long and short distance transport
- Must have Project Management Experience
- WMS / ERP Systems skill and experience
- Customer relations experience
- Sound knowledge of engineering economics and fundamental accounting principles
- Production Logistics experience (lineside supply, VAS, etc.)
- Knowledge of methodologies i.e. Lean, 6 Sigma
