We are looking for an HR manager to oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes as well as carrying out all labour and employee relations.

The HR Manager position is to head a department consisting of 3 HR Officers and 1 head of Payroll. The department liaise with 17 Retail branches nation wide. Each branch consists of two to four HR admin clerks that control all HR functions in each branch respectively. With an overall staff contingency of nearly 2000 employees and growing.

To us, an HR manager is the go-to person for all employee-related issues. This means that your HR manager duties will involve managing activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training & development.

Duties & Responsibilities

HR Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Managing HR department ensuring that all workflows and tasks are completed by team.
  • Bridging management and employee relations by ensuring that HR officers are trained and well informed to carry out duties.
  • Managing the recruitment and selection process
  • All labour and employee relations
  • Full understanding and scope of payroll

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
  • Monitor current overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization with vision of developing new ones.
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
  • Manage the Companies BEE Scorecard with regards to Employment Equity and Skills Development
  • Oversee the entire payroll process (Sage Pastel Payroll and HR)

Desired Experience & Qualification

Desired Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years proven working experience as HR manager or other HR executive in the retail sector
  • Management ability of staff and driven for results.
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
  • In-depth Knowledge of HR systems (Pastel Payroll and HR) and databases
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Certification on payroll systems
