Description
An exciting opportunity exists at our Banking client based in Stellenbosch, to form part of the Properties and Development team as Head: Projects.
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to drive end-to-end project management of branch construction and refurbishing within a specific geographical area (Southern Area), ensuring delivery according to specification; within agreed timelines and budget. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall branch look and feel.
This position will best suit a resilient personality who is energetic and highly self-motivated with the ability to juggle numerous projects successfully, while travelling extensively (nationally).
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the role:
- End-to-end project management the client’s branch construction and refurbishments
- Financial management and controls of budgets
- Project Reviews and quality control
- Management of projects teams within the allocated geographic area’s
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction, Business Management, Project Management etc.
- At least 8 years end-to-end project management experience in building / construction / refurbishment within a similar environment of which:
- Proven experience in managing and motivating a remote team of 10 or more
- Proven experience in managing shop fitting projects in a retail environment would be preferred
- Experience in preparation, monitoring and managing project budgets and operational expenses, would be essential
- Experience in the following is key:
- Building and construction methods, including materials and regulations
- Principles of financial management within a project delivery environment
- Cost Management & Budgeting
- Team leadership, coaching and mentoring within a highly pressured environment
- Knowledge of the following would ideal:
- Quantity surveying
- Quality assurance (QC)
- Principles of marketing
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English
- Computer literate (Advanced MS Office)
- Interpersonal & relationship management skills, including the ability to persuade and influence
- Strong numeric and analytical skills
- Deadline driven with excellent time management
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to make decisions, especially within a high pressured, deadline driven environment coupled with a highly solutions-driven focus
- Able to apply excellent planning and organising skills
- Resilient, drive and confidence, including the ability to cope well with pressure
- Willing and able to work extra hours, outside normal business hours as and when required, including some weekends (including dangerous city / rural areas)
- Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight, including in rural areas (current regions include Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State and Northern Cape)
- Clear credit record and criminal record
- Own reliable vehicle and valid driving licence
